Booking a private cooking class in Ubud becomes much easier when you know what
to send and what to confirm. A short message with the right details helps the
host check your date, group, accommodation, preferred experience and food
needs without a long back-and-forth.
Before you pay, separate three things: what is included in the selected
package, what can be requested, and what still depends on the date or
availability. This is especially useful when you are planning a cooking
experience for two and want to fit it around the rest of your Ubud itinerary.
Start with a clear booking message
The most useful first message is practical rather than vague. Instead of
sending only "Is a cooking class available?", include the information the host
needs to check the reservation.
You can use this simple structure:
Hello, I would like to check availability for [date].
Guests: [number of adults and children]
Accommodation: [hotel or villa name and area]
Experience: [Cooking + Meal or Market + Cooking + Meal]
Food needs: [dietary requests and ingredients to avoid]
Spice level: [mild, medium or no preference]
Other notes: [birthday, honeymoon or stay details, if relevant]
This is not a guarantee of availability. It is a clear request that lets the
host confirm the details that matter to your group.
1. Confirm what private means
Private should describe the people included in your booking, not only the
appearance of a website or a photograph. Ask whether the session is arranged
for your own reservation group and whether the group size is confirmed for
your date.
At Ketut Paon Bali, direct experiences are arranged for the guests in your
reservation. The format is hands-on, with the group preparing the confirmed
menu and sharing the meal together. You can review the current
private Balinese cooking class in Ubud before
you send your request.
If you are booking for two people, also ask how both guests can participate.
One person may be more experienced in the kitchen while the other is cooking
for the first time. A good booking conversation makes it easier to explain
whether you both want to prepare, season and cook rather than simply watch.
2. State your preferred date and guest count
Give the preferred date first, then list the number of adults, children aged
5-11 and infants aged 0-4. Do not rely on a general group description if your
party includes different age groups.
Current direct booking guidance uses the applicable adult rate for the selected
experience. Children aged 5-11 pay 50 percent of that rate, while infants aged
0-4 join free. The final arrangement remains subject to confirmation for the
selected date and experience.
If your date is flexible, offer one or two alternatives. If it is fixed, say
so clearly. This helps the host check the real booking request rather than
guessing which part of your message matters most.
3. Send the exact accommodation and area
Write the hotel, villa or homestay name and its area. The word "Ubud" in a
property name does not always tell the host where the property is located.
Exact accommodation information is important for pickup planning.
Round-trip pickup from accommodation in Ubud is included for the current Ketut
Paon direct format. Locations outside Ubud require a separate transport quote.
Use the
Ubud pickup guide to understand the boundary, then send the
exact property for confirmation instead of assuming that a nearby area is
included.
If you are arranging another activity after the class, mention it only as
planning context. Do not build a second booking around an unconfirmed return
time. Traffic, the selected experience and the accommodation location can
affect the practical schedule.
4. Choose the experience before comparing the price
The two main decisions are usually the cooking-only format and the market
option.
Cooking + Meal keeps the focus on the kitchen, hands-on preparation and the
meal you share with your booking group. The lunch session normally uses
pickup around 09:00, cooking around 10:00 and a finish around 12:00-13:00.
The dinner session normally uses pickup around 16:00, cooking around 17:00
and a finish around 20:00.
Market + Cooking + Meal starts with a morning local-market visit before the
cooking session. A typical plan uses pickup around 08:00, about 30 minutes at
the market, cooking around 09:00 and a finish around 12:00. These times are
indicative, not a promise for every date. If the Pejeng market is unavailable,
another suitable local market may be used.
The current
experience comparison page explains the difference.
Choose the package that fits your day, then ask for the current total and
availability for that exact option.
5. Ask what menu direction fits your group
Tell the host whether you want the regular Balinese, vegetarian, vegan or
another feasible dietary direction. The current menu page lists the menu
directions, but the final dishes are confirmed for the booking date based on
the selected package, dietary needs and ingredient availability.
This is why a request should name the food need clearly. "No meat", "vegan",
"no pork", "dairy-free", "egg-free", "pescatarian" and "less spicy" do not
mean the same thing. Add ingredients to avoid and explain serious allergies
before confirmation.
The kitchen can discuss feasible requests, but it does not promise an
allergen-free or zero-cross-contact environment. Guests with a serious medical
allergy should ask direct questions about shared tools, surfaces, oils and
ingredients before paying. Read the current
Balinese cooking menus and then confirm what applies to
your date.
6. Ask about timing, not only duration
A cooking class is more than the time spent at the stove. Your day may also
include pickup, a market visit, a welcome, preparation, the shared meal and
the return journey.
Ask for the expected pickup, cooking start and finish window for your selected
package. Then leave space before a spa booking, temple visit, dinner
reservation or airport transfer. A private experience can be relaxed without
being a good match for a tightly packed itinerary.
The
what-to-expect guide shows the current sequence from
pickup to market when included, hands-on cooking, meal and cultural moments.
Use it to form a realistic plan, then ask for the date-specific confirmation.
7. Confirm the price and payment terms
Ask whether the quoted amount is per adult, per guest, per couple or for the
selected booking group. Then confirm the final total for your party, the
payment method and what is included in that amount.
The current direct price depends on the experience and adult group size.
Children and infants follow the age guidance above. The
price planner can help you estimate the group, but a direct
message is still needed for date availability, menu feasibility and final
booking details.
Also ask what confirms the booking. A first message is an availability
request. A confirmed reservation should identify the date, guest count,
package, accommodation or transport arrangement, food notes, final total and
payment method.
8. Add special requests as notes, not assumptions
If the experience is for a birthday, honeymoon or another meaningful
occasion, include that information in the first request. The host can then
explain which current option may fit and what still needs confirmation.
Do not assume that a photograph, decoration, cake, flower activity or local
stay is included in every cooking package. Special options have their own
terms and may depend on the date, selected experience or room availability.
Ask for the exact arrangement in writing before you pay.
9. Keep the final confirmation
Save the latest written confirmation in the same place as your travel plans.
It should be easy to find the date, number of guests, selected experience,
pickup location, food notes, price, payment instructions and any special
request.
If a website, old message or travel listing shows different information,
ask which details apply to your booking. Do not guess between two prices,
meeting points or schedules. The current confirmation for your date is more
useful than a general description that may refer to another package.
A simple decision before you book
A private cooking class in Ubud is easier to choose when the real format is
visible. Before paying, you should know:
- who is included in the private booking;
- which date and guest count are being checked;
- where the accommodation is located;
- whether you want cooking-only or the market option;
- what menu and food requests need confirmation;
- when pickup, cooking and the meal are expected;
- what the final price and payment terms cover;
- which celebration or stay details are actually included.
If you can answer those questions, send the complete request through the
Ketut Paon Bali contact page. A clear message helps the host
check the right package and gives you a more reliable basis for deciding
whether the experience fits your Ubud trip.
